Recap of Guatemala - June 2022

Moving onto Guatemala by bus with all of the players from El Salvador was smooth sailing at 6am Friday.

We were coming off of a singles title, a doubles title, and a runner up appearance during that two week stretch.

The players here in Guatemala dealt with the altitude and the typical Guatemalan gamesmanship pretty well.

We managed to make a girls final in doubles week one with Maya and Reese just falling short, and Reese coming up short during a rain delayed singles final week two.

I was proud of all the kids dealing with the typical Guatemalan parents ; cheering on doubles faults, yelling in ball tosses, and any other games these parent can think to exhibit to best act like four year olds..

I explained to the players that this was their Super Bowl and certainly not ours.

Miles got a big doubles win and Luca, Wynn, and Maria all picked up at least one main draw singles win.

We stayed downtown at the Clarion Suites as usual which was great do to its close proximity to many great restaurants.

The meal of the event for me was the Orange glazed pork from La Victoria Peruvian restaurant and the dessert of the event was the Tiramisu fro Tre Travalli Italian restaurant.

On to the Dominican in two weeks.
